"730 Days in Boots"
Part of the "730 days" project"
“Zer Gut” art group, 2004 video, acrylic on canvas

When creating videos and pictures, we used Vladimir Seleznev’s army photos and Egor Letov’s song "Dream of a Soldier" from the album of the same name being part of the "Communism" musical project, released in 1989.

Discharge album in the Soviet army of the second half of the 20th century became a significant instrument of glorification of the army service and the consolidation of the teenage experience of becoming an adult. Vladimir Seleznev served in the army during the time when the Soviet Union was falling apart and in some regions within the Soviet borders combat operations took place.

A decade after the army service, putting his discharge album together out of an abundance of pictures, he created a nostalgic work in which the power of youth, personal experience, certain circumstances, win over the hardships of the real life; in which the glorification of the routine is still possible
